ST. BASIL’S CATHEDRAL
It is a cult building of the XVI century and the most recognizable temple in the whole world. A recognized fact was that Italian architects were invited to Russia to build this cathedral. The masters in the construction used the decorations known at that time: “kokoshniki”, “arrows”, “beads”, “crosses”, “snakes”, the general combination of which looks harmonious. All the elevations of the temple are absolutely individual, giant curly bricks made of burnt clay, which is a great delicacy. If you look at the cathedral from above, you can see that the churches located near the central one form an eight-pointed star – a symbol of the Virgin.
CATHEDRAL OF SAINT PETER IN VATICAN
It is the ceremonial center of the Roman Catholic Church. Many talented people worked on architecture (Michelangelo, Giacomo Della Porta). For more than a century the construction of the temple took place, the interior was gradually supplemented with biblical images. The luxurious interior looks mesmerizing with an abundance of marble sculptures, gilded altars, fabulously painted frescoes – all this creates a design for the central point of the cathedral.
